FAQs
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! I am in-network with United Health Care plan. However, I am out-of-network with other companies at this time. I may provide a super bill after appointments so that families may request reimbursement from their insurance if desired. I am currently working to become an in-network provider for BCBS of IL and Aetna.
How long does an Autism Evaluation take?
This can vary; however, most evaluations take anywhere from 2 hours to 4 hours to complete.
What tests and measures are administered as part of an Autism Evaluation?
This also varies from child to child. All evaluations are individualized to best meet the needs of the child and family. Most evaluations will include a social/emotional measure, adaptive measure, brief developmental or cognitive measure, and/or language test or screener. Additionally, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition or the Childhood Autism Rating Scale will be administered.
Are diagnoses provided based on tests/measures alone?
Absolutely not! All evaluations will include a diagnostic interview with caregivers and review of medical and educational records, in addition to the direct behavioral observations using standardized tests and measures. Evaluations should be comprehensive and never rely solely on one piece of information.
Will you assess for anything other than autism and ADHD?
At this time, Wildflower Behavioral Health Services focuses on autism, ADHD, and psychoeducational evaluations only. However, if there is another diagnosis that is clinically indicated and sufficient information is obtained to make a diagnosis, another diagnosis may be provided (e.g., anxiety, depression, language disorder, speech sound disorder).
What does an ADHD evaluation look like?
ADHD evaluations are thorough, compassionate, and tailored to your child’s unique needs. We use clinical interviews, behavior rating scales, and cognitive assessments to understand attention, impulsivity, and executive functioning. Evaluations are designed to clarify whether symptoms are due to ADHD or other concerns like anxiety or learning differences, and you’ll leave with clear results and actionable recommendations.
Will results be given the same day of the autism and/or ADHD evaluation?
This is not guaranteed; however, the goal is to complete the evaluation, provide diagnostic conclusions and recommendations in the same day. This is another reason paperwork is required prior to the day of evaluation. We will not rush an evaluation for the sake of completing everything in one day though. If additional testing is recommended, diagnostic conclusions and recommendations may be given during an additional appointment.
My child takes daily medication for behaviors, should I give my child their medication on the day of the evaluation?
Yes, absolutely! If your child already takes medication, especially for behaviors, it is important to provide that so we can better assess for the autism symptoms.
What does a psychoeducational assessment look like and how long does it take?
Psychoeducational evaluations are designed to help families and schools better understand how a child learns and what supports may be needed for academic success. These assessments are commonly used to explore concerns related to reading, writing, math, attention, memory, or processing speed. It's difficult to say exactly what this will look like because it is individualized for each child. However, each evaluation includes:
A clinical interview with caregivers and/or child (if appropriate) to gather developmental and educational history
Standardized testing tailored to your child’s needs—this may include tools like the WISC-V (cognitive abilities), WIAT-4 (academic achievement), and BRIEF-2 (attention and executive functioning)
Behavioral rating scales from parents and teachers
A clear, written report with individualized recommendations for school accommodations (e.g., IEP, 504 Plan), tutoring supports, or further intervention
We provide a collaborative feedback session on a separate day to walk through the results, answer questions, and help you feel confident about next steps.
What do I need to bring for my child's feeding evaluation?
Please bring 1-2 nonpreferred foods, 1-2 preferred foods (can be snacks/treats), and anything special used during mealtimes (e.g., specific cup/plate, toys, tablet).
How long does a feeding evaluation or behavioral intake take?
Most intake evaluations are completed in 90 minutes.
How long are feeding therapy or parent training appointments?
Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes.
